Seaborn’s heavy steel plate fabrication combines high power laser cutting, forming and welding into a single manufacturing process. With laser cutting capacity for up to 2″ carbon steel, Seaborn Manufacturing can produce heavy fabricated components that many fabrication shops can not. Thick Steel Plate Cutting and Fabrication
Common heavy steel plate grades include A36, 44W (300W) and 50W (350W) grades used throughout industrial equipment and structural applications. These heavier materials are commonly fabricated into machine bases, equipment frames, structural supports and heavy duty weldments.
Stainless Steel and Aluminum Heavy Plate Fabrication
Heavy Aluminium plates are most frequently 6061 or 7073. Stainless is almost always 304 or 316 but there are several other grades. We can laser cut a clean tight tolerance and accurate part in stainless or aluminum. Heavy plate laser cutting is just one service we offer at Seaborn Manufacturing.
Steel Fabrication Processes
Our steel fabrication services almost always start with laser cutting either on the sheet or tube laser. We have found nothing compares to the accuracy of a great laser. Typically once the blanks are cut all forming happens. The press breaks for the sheet metal and plate and the CNC tube benders create the required tube forms. Once all the components are ready we move to welding and assembly. The 3D modular jig table(s) are set up and verified and welding can begin often with the use of a robot. Final dimensional inspections happen and the parts can be powder coated or plated as required. Once coated and final inspected all that remains is shipping to our client.
Cutting and Forming
Steel fabrication in Ontario demands precision. You have to begin right to end right. We start with laser cut accuracy so we begin as accurately as practical. Using precision tooling and advanced press breaks & cnc tube benders we hold a tight tolerance right through forming.
Welding and Assembly
Being extreme in our quality control and accuracy leading up to welding and assembly makes these operations faster and easier. Little time is required to fit when the parts are right. With high quality inputs and the use of precision ground modular welding tables our weldments are held within tolerance. When practical we use robotic welding just like other CNC equipment a human can not be as consistent as a robot. Ensuring accuracy at every step makes the welding process so much easier for man & machine. When you need industrial steel fabrication services there is no room for compromise so we do not.
Finishing and Quality Control
Every part is double checked, drawing initialled and dated by both inspectors. Even the best may look at drawing and read it incorrectly. Sometimes it is a drawing issue and sometimes it is just being human. When two experienced and knowledgeable trades people look at and inspect a part the odds of an error slipping through are extremely low. Quality is paramount and every employee at Seaborn is empowered to hold and reject part as required.
