Key Areas Where Automation is Impacting Metal Fabrication

The metal fabrication industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by automation and smart manufacturing technologies. At Seaborn Manufacturing, we embrace automation to enhance efficiency, precision, and scalability in metal fabrication. Here are the key areas where automation is making the biggest impact:

1. CNC Machining

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining has revolutionized metal work. CNC machining is a well established and developed field of manufacturing and an outstanding example of effective automation.

2. Robotic Welding

Automated welding systems ensure stronger, more consistent welds while reducing material waste and production time. The Robot repeats the same operation at the same proven setting every pass. Now with the edition of laser scanning it can even adapt to changes in the part.

3. Laser Cutting

Advanced laser cutting machines provide high-accuracy cuts at high speed with minimal human intervention. A laser easily works to 0.005” or 0.12mm. Even better tolerance may be achieved with proper preparation. This holds true for both Seaborn’s sheet laser and tube laser. This incredible out of the box accuracy reduces the need for expensive machining operations while providing outstanding accuracy laser fast.

4. Forming

Brake Press has evolved into a modern forming / bending process. Coupling the 3D multi axis controllers with precision ground tooling ensure accuracy, speed of set up, easy repeated production runs. A modern brake press with precision ground tooling is easily capable of 0.01” or 0.25mm per bend accuracy. While working to the machine limits is not always the most cost effective solution, the capability makes it right for many jobs that would have previously required machining.

3. CNC Tube Bending

CNC tube bending technology enables precise and efficient bending of metal tubing without compromise. The CNC ensures uniform bends, reduces material waste, and speeds up production, making them ideal for industries requiring complex tubing.

4. Inventory Management

Streamline workflow, reduces downtime and minimizes errors in material selection and product shipping. Integration with our ERP ensures smart inventory management and real-time tracking of raw materials, optimizing efficiency.

5. Quality Control & Inspection

Automated measuring tools like our CMM and real-time data analytics ensure that every part meets exact specifications, improving overall product reliability. The CMM takes the human factor out of the process of measuring a part.

6. Production Scheduling & Workflow Optimization

Automated software ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solutions optimize production schedules by predicting machine workload, reducing bottlenecks, and ensuring seamless operations. These systems enable faster turnaround times and improved resource utilization of both equipment and staff.

The Future of Automated Metal Fabrication

As automation continues to evolve, Seaborn Manufacturing is committed to integrating the latest advancements in order to deliver high-quality, precision components efficiently and cost-effectively.
